Continuing education (FC)
This year the program period started in January with a course about Ophthalmology, and continued with seminaries in areas such as Neurology, Urology, Digestive, Laboratory, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Anesthesiology and Behavior, 10 seminars in total with a participation of 900 people. As every year, this year we also tried to involve in the organization veterinaries from all over Spain. So these seminaries were imparted in 11 different cities and the speakers represented almost all Spanish regions. We are proud to count for this project with the support of the FECAVA, WASAVA and various Veterinary University Schools, and we have to thank the collaboration of some sponsor companies.
For the years 2002 and 2003 we have planed to organize 50 weekend seminaries, and as a result of these two years program we expect to exceed the number 5.000 assistants got last year.
Nurses Continuing education (FC)
During the period we organized 6 meeting for nurses in different Spanish cities. The big success and interest in it will move AVEAP to present for the next years a serious project on nurse continuing education.
Advanced Specialization Seminaries (SEA)
The SEA project was born almost two years ago, and from the beginning of its activity has been given a high-specialized education level to AVEPA's members. After these two years we are satisfied to see the success and great acceptance of this kind of seminaries.
The SEA seminaries are celebrated in different Spanish cities, and the specialties selected for the years 2002 and 2003 are Digestive, Endocrinology, Oncology, Orthopedics, and Cardiology. Each Seminar is been held a Saturday afternoon during 5 hours, and the attendance in 2002 reach the number of almost 600 assistants. This means that the number has increased in reference with the last year in more than the double of assistants.
SEA counts with recognized foreign speakers as Michael D. Willard; Debora Greco; Guillermo Couto, Herman Hazewinkel, Virgina Luis Fuentes and offers simultaneous translation in to the Spanish. This project is sponsored by The Iams Company.
AVEPA's Regional Sections/Areas
The 10 different regional sections of AVEPA have organized during the year 2002 until now 24 continuous education activities, and we expect to finish 2003 with 32 courses celebrated. Theses curses are organized by their own initiative and with the support of AVEPA.
WSAVA 2002 Congress
The 37? AVEPA's Annual National Congress held in Granada, from the 3rd to the 6th of October 2002, coincided with the celebration of the 8 FECAVA Congress and the 27 WSAVA Congress. The congress success surpasses all expectations and counted with 3060 veterinarian delegates (55% Spanish, 45% international delegates coming from 50 different countries), 120 nurses, and 2054 commercial representatives of 100 companies, 10 of which represented the main collaborators of the congress.
More than 100 speakers of 23 specialties shared 10 halls and rooms of the Palacio de Congresos de Granada. 19 of these speakers were Spanish. Two halls were exclusively employed for free communications and clinical cases. Animal identification and international databases, animal welfare, and genetics were the three most innovative topics discussed at the Congress. Delegates had also access to more than 90 posters. The program did also include 7 "State of the art" lectures.

AVEPA's National Congress 2003
The 38? AVEPA's Annual National Congress will be held in Sevilla, from the 10th to the 12th of October in the Palacio de Congresos de Sevilla.
Congresses of Groups of Specialist of AVEPA
I AVEPA Specialist Groups Congress
In April 13th and 14th 2002, was celebrated our I AVEPA Specialist Groups Congress, in the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Madrid. This congress was created with the aim to promote the development of the AVEPA Specialist Group activity. At the same time we pretended to give facilities to the groups to organise its scientific meetings with the logistic and administrative support of AVEPA. In this congress the attendance arrived to 360 delegates.
II AVEPA Specialist Groups Congress
This year 2003 the congress will be celebrated in April 12th and 13th in the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Zaragoza. 8 are the groups of specialist that will participate in the congress with 65 lectures more Free Communication presentation. This year we also count with the support of the industry and local institutions. We expect around 400 delegates.
