PET PRACTITIONERS ASSOCIATION of MUMBAI (PPAM)

Several like-minded pet practitioners felt a need for a common platform that not only serve as a social meeting-point but also for exchange of technical viewpoints, and this led to the formation of an association, The PET PRACTITIONERS ASSOCIATION of MUMBAI (PPAM), on January 20, 1997, during a meeting held at Royal Orchid restaurant Chembur, Mumbai.

From the humble beginning made by 30 members, within five years of its existence, today PPAM membership is seven times and is growing stronger every day. All the members stand by the aims and objectives laid down for the association - of being educational, professional, social, non-political and non-profit making organization.

One of the objectives of this group includes bringing together the veterinary fraternity in general and small animal clinicians, in particular, by way of arranging continuing education program, wherein eminent personalities from pet world are invited to deliver lectures. On November 17th 2002, PPAM organized first WSAVA continuing education program where more than 600 delegates participated. Dr. Roger Clarke Chairman Of WSAVA Continuing Education Program in Asia, Spoke on various topics including Wound healing, Orthopedics in Large breed dogs, External Skeletal fixation and Hip Dysplasia. On the eve of its sixth foundation day, PPAM organized lectures on Vaccination Strategies for Companion Animals, which were delivered by Dr Sharmila Maji (Asst Prof, Dept of Microbiology, Bombay Veterinary College) and Dr Ramanna (Managing Director, Brilliant Industries, Hyderabad)

The PPAM is registered as a society and public trust, and publishes a diary annually, wherein all the members are listed.
